Hi all,

I have got a problem with the red stars displayed when a field is declared as mandatory. The from opened from a sharepoint libary, displays the red stars automatically in a computer and don't displays them on another computer.
The only red stars always displayed is the one in the text box.
Please someone know if it depends on the revision or on my template?

Hi Muriel Welcome to the Forums,

In which computer it do not displayed as the red stars automatically then you can try to enter data in that field and remove it, then check what is the behavior of that text box?

Can you try to remove that field and add same field one more time in data source then what is the status of the red stars of that filed?

Thanks for your quick answer.
I tried what you said and my drop down lists are still without red stars. The fields in the datasource are displayed with a red star but only the drop down lists displayed in the form have not this red star.
It's very strange because when I open the form on my computer from the sharepoint Library, red stars are not displayed and when I open the same form directly form the folder C:\.... red stars are displayed normally.
Perhaps there is a "mix" between the versions?
I really don't understand how works the link between Sharepoint and Infopath.

If you have published your form to SharePoint it holds a template copy with all its revisions there.

If you have published the form to your c drive it also holds a copy of the template there too.

Examine the fields with the stars in design mode of the version on your C: drive and check to see the validation on this form is the same as the validation on SharePoint form. That is your likely source of error.

Hi Adam,

Regarding the red asterick (*) for a mandatory field, is it possible to place the asterick (*) outside the field itself?

 For some reason, when the form is published to Sharepoint the red asterick (*) gets dispayed on the far left of the field covering up the text.
