How to consume web service in .NET (c#)

    Hi All,
I am PDF form developer and try to use Infopath now.
I can consume a web service by clicking a button in the Infopath form.

My question is how to consume a web service in .net managed code?

    Thanks in advance,

    Eugene

    Hi dream1213,

To consume Webservices in InfoPath dynamically using managed code,
just go through the following link about datasources in InfoPath.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_tr/html/odc_INF_Lab_08.asp

Check out "Dynamically Update the Form with Data from a Web Service" by scrolling below

It will tell u the method in which u can consume webservices in InfoPath.

The code samples are in JScript. But it is almost the same in .NET too.
Some minor differences,Example: Replace XDocument with thisXDocument in .NET.

Also check out the following link which tells u how to start with using Managed code with InfoPath.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_tr/html/odc_INF_Lab_15.asp

Thanks Abhishek, I am going to take look that now.
I have another crucial issue for us to replace pdf with Infopath. The question is can Infopath form be opened at IE browser? Our forms are located at web server, hope user can open these forms in client side IE browser without Infopath installation.

    Hi Dream1213,

Opening InfoPath forms in IE is possible with InfoPath 2007 where there is an option to create Browser enabled forms using InfoPath Forms services.
Just google "New features in InfoPath 2007" and check it out.

Thanks Abhishek, I have found a document athttp://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/06/08/InfoPath2007/default.aspx

One more question is how to pass/get paraameters to a infopath form?
Let say, the infopath url is likehttp://.....infopathForm.xml?UserID=12
Is there some way to get the UserID from the form like in ASP.NET?

Thank you very much for your help!,

    Eugene
