End User Receiving Cannot Open Parameter Incorrect Error - Out of Options

    Hi all,

I have one user out of around 1,000 that has used my infopath/sharepoint set up successfully for months now.  She just returned from PTO and is now getting an error message "Infopath cannot open the following file: <fileName>.  The parameter is incorrect".

We're on IP 2010 filler form with MOSS 2007.  The user has cleared her IE8 cache, her infopath cache and has ensured the sharepoint site didn't somehow become a "not trusted" site in IE8.  Nothing has worked.  I sent her the instructions to go to the C:\users\<userMSID>\Appdata\local\Microsoft folder (and one other) to make a backup of the infopath folder and delete the current one... however she can't, for some reason, see the users folder (yes, I did tell her to have her explorer view show hidden files).  I have her calling our IT support to see why she can't see her user folder, but while she does that, I'm wondering if anyone has another possible solution to fix the issue?

I have run out of other possible solutions and there's nothing else I can find on the web.

    Thanks!

    Jen

Re: End User Receiving Cannot Open Parameter Incorrect Error - Out of Options

Since I never found an option online and didn't receive an update here, I thought I'd post what ended up working for this person in case someone else out there ever has the issue.

After three attempts with our IT "help" desk, we eventually got someone who was helpful.

An installation of Office 2010 Sp1 service package resolved the issue.  To see if someone doesn't have the service package:

    1. Open any MS Office 2010 program.
    2. Go to the File tab; then Help
    3. Click the link for Additional Version and Copyright Information
    4. In the first line of the info the name of the program with version will be seen and then MSO.  If the MSO does not have Sp1 next to it, the person doesn't have the service package.

    Thanks,

    Jen
