Hi Hilary, when I right click and select Extract All I'm not sure what's happening...a black screen pops up, a load of text scolls past and then the black screen closes again. I've got no idea if it's extracting the files or where it's putting them! .xsn file is too large to attach here but I could email it to you if you like?

Sure -- I sent you an email an hour or so ago that you can reply to, or you can email me via the forum, and, when I reply, you can respond with the xsn.

Hi Hilary, I emailed you my .xsn file the other day, I just wanted to confirm if you received it? If not I'll try sending it again.

Nope, I did not get it. Not in my junk, either! Try again? Did you get the initial email I sent you through the forum?

Re: Cannot open form in design mode

Hi Guys,

I appear to have the same issue. Thanks for all your great advice. I have so far managed to extracty the files from the .cab directory into a new form When I attempt to open the manifest in design mode i receive the error that i did before.

I have opened the manifest in notepad and removed the lines of code that the error refers to. However when I do this I then get a different error that states: 'xsf:xDocumentClass' does not match the start tag 'xsf:view'

Can anyone help me fix this error?

Many Thanks

Dan

Sounds like you deleted more than you should have, like removing an </xsf:view> while the opening <xsf:view> remained. You may want to try again, but be careful to only remove entire nodes from the manifest. What was the error you were getting before you modified it?

Re: Cannot open form in design mode

Thanks for your help. I have checked it and tried again with no luck. The original error is as follows:

The form definition (.xsf) file contains elements, attributes, or structures that are not valid.

Error details:
The keyref 'RAGStatuses_298' does not resolve to a key for the Identity Constraint '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}xmlToEdit_name_key'.

Line 153, Position 5
</xsf:view>
----^

This page might have the answer:

http://linderalex.blogspot.com/2008/06/infopath-2007-be-aware-of-its-traps.html

It says to delete any "keyref"s in your manifest. I'm not sure what that is, but searching for RAGStatuses_298 would probably be a start. If you attach your manifest.xsf file to this thread, I or someone else might be able to shed some light on what you should do with it.

Try deleting this section from the manifest, then reopening the form:

<xsf:menuArea name="msoInsertMenu">
<xsf:menu caption="&Section">
<xsf:button action="xOptional::insert" xmlToEdit="RAGStatuses_298" caption="RAGStatuses"></xsf:button>
</xsf:menu>
</xsf:menuArea>
<xsf:menuArea name="msoStructuralEditingContextMenu">
<xsf:button action="xOptional::remove" xmlToEdit="RAGStatuses_298" caption="Remove RAGStatuses" showIf="immediate"></xsf:button>
<xsf:button action="xOptional::insert" xmlToEdit="RAGStatuses_298" caption="Insert RAGStatuses" showIf="immediate"></xsf:button>
</xsf:menuArea>

Re: Cannot open form in design mode

Thanks Jimmy, unfortunatley I have deleted this saved the document and tried re-opening it in infopath but it will still not allow me to open design mode, it gives me this error:

The form definition (.xsf) file contains elements, attributes, or structures that are not valid.

Error details:
The keyref 'RAGStatuses_298' does not resolve to a key for the Identity Constraint '{http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/infopath/2003/solutionDefinition}xmlToEdit_name_key'.

</xsf:view>
