Hi all,
I've read the posts on the updating content type failures, but they all drop off before troubleshooting options are provided. Was hoping to get some advice on what else I can try.
Set up: 2010 Infopath Filler Form published to MOSS 2007 Form Library
History: This form promotes a large number of fields to sharepoint (i.e. close to 500. When we were still promoting more fields, I ran into the updating content type error and found that increasing the Runtime Execution Time Out fixed the error. At this time, we have been successfully publishing changes to the form up until a couple weeks ago.
Now: We still have the same number of fields (actually this fail publish, I was removing a few fields), but now we have a large number of items in the list. During the last successful publish, there were 3531 items. The first failed publish occurred when there were 3998 items. Now we're at 4588.
My thought was that I was likely hitting up against the runtime execution timeout again. I asked IT to increase the setting which hasn't occurred yet b/c they errantly tried updaing the Form Services timeout (note, we don't have form services on any farm at our company). In the meantime, I timed how long before I got the error - 7 mins. Our time out is set to 10 min, so I thought that was odd. Had IT check the error logs for the time I received the error... no error for time out in the logs.
I've also made a copy of the form and tried publishing the entire thing to a new library. Worked just fine. I also verified that I'm not running into the evil problem of Infopath randomly trying to promote fields by creating new ones.
We will be archiving/deleting items that have been closed for 4 months, but am not sure that is going to help. Also, I don't publish until evenings when the servers are freer and people aren't using the form.
My questions are...
1. If we are butting up against the runtime execution time out, will an error always show? Should I continue persuing that line of thought?
2. Will deleting items from the library potentially help?
3. I've seen recommendations online to delete the template from the sharepoint site and try publishing. That scares me... what are opinions on that one?
4. Any other thoughts/recommendations to try?
Thank you! Very much in need of assistance!
