Infopath 2007 "Form has been closed" message

I am currently trying to work with Infopath 2007.  I have created a form that is going to be updated several times.  I created my form as a browser based form and published it to sharepoint 2007 and then I ran into this "form has been closed" issue.  I have searched the internet to find that this a known problem but that no one has ever published a solution to it.  Is there a solution to this problem? Was it ever fixed?  I am wondering if managed code would allow me the abilty to update from the form but I can not seem to find any site that give a hint how to do it and I can not seem to find a solution when I try to code it.

I guess what I am asking can you actually update a sharepoint list form the form once you have saved the form to the list.

    Thank you.

I'm sorry, I'm kind of confused by your post - you are saying InfoPath 2007, but I don't remember 2007 having the ability to customize SharePoint List forms? Or is this form published to a library? Is the form displaying "form has been closed" when you click New Document in your SharePoint library and try to create a new form? If so, can you have your SharePoint admin check the log files? A lot of times there is helpful info there.

    Hi

Thank you for responding.  My question is not very good because I am trying to self teach infopath.  Yes my form is published to a forms library on my sharepoint 2007 site. It is a browser based form. The "form has been closed" appears on any form that has been initially saved to the library and reopened at a later time and the process of doing a save and then a close causes this message to appear.  I have checked the log files and can not find any error message that appear at the same time as when I am working with the forms or any error related to infopath in general.  are there infopath services specific logs maybe?

From what I have read on old posts when I do a search for the message is it might have some to do with how a browser based form creates it redirect web address but I could not find out if any fixes were done for that.

Since I am new maybe I am expecting infopath to be doing something that it can't do ( such as accept changes to a published for and put those changes to the list fields that are associated with the published form)?

Thanks you for at least getting my questions more focused.

You'll want to look in the trace logs - the default location for SharePoint 2007 is:

     (System Drive):\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\LOGS\

    Thanks Hilary

Just to be sure I am understanding you correctly I searched all the files in the directory you provided that were created on the dates I am working with my browser form.  I searched for infopath and error and the name of my form template and found nothing that held an error message ( I logging all levels of messages).  Does sharepoint use something cryptic to record form services errors?

No - nothing cryptic - but I'd expect to see at least the URL of your template in there someplace when it opens. Or the word "InfoPath".

Could not find anything in any logs.  I think it might be time to call Microsoft unless anyone could point me to a source that might have seen a solution to this.

    Hello,

This is the closest I have found to my issue. I have a 2007 IP form published to a 2007 SP form library. All seems to be working great for everyone, except for one person - who keeps getting the "Form has been Closed" message/error. I looked through this post and looked at the logs as described, but the issue is not with me (or most users for that matter). This occurance has only happened to one person (and of course an important person in our process with IP - lol). So my question is - what should I be looking for to see how it effects the other person's computer? I am thinking it is a setting/security thing, but just don't know what to look for at the moment. I am thinking I will need to talk the other user into adjusting the settings - but 1. not sure if that is the right direction or if there is another issue that could be cuasing this, and 2. I need to know what to tell the user what to change/adjust. Let me know if there are any ideas.

     Thanks,

    Frankie D.

This is old outed post but in case someone (like our company) is still using the older SharePoint and InfoPath 2007 technology and encounters this issue it could be because they don't have InfoPath 2007 installed on their machine.  This would be the case if Microsoft Office 2016 (or newer) is a fresh install on a new machine vs. an install over a previous MS Office 2007 install on an existing machine.
