Form copies with various states of completion

The problem with using email to send out forms to be completed by various individual is that copies are littered throughout in various state of completion since the attachment is a snapshot of the form. I spend so much of my time developing forms only to find this out. I guess Sharepoint is the way to go for centralized xml file..

    Hey Myrna,

Did you have a question or were you just sharing your thoughts? Thanks, if so!

I would agree with you - SharePoint can be very helpful for team collaboration. If you don't want to invest in SharePoint you could probably also use a simple network shared folder to do all of the editing. Either way, you need to think about permissions and how you will limit users from working on the form when they are not allowed to.

    Hi Matt-

You are one of the 3 Infopath experts who gives the best advices and solutions. Anyway, you said the users can edit the xml file on a shared folder so that means I would have to link the URN in the email body. Can you please give me the code on how to do this? Thanks again.

    Myrna,

Thanks for the compliment! Why are using using a URN-based solution? If you simply publish the form template into a shared network folder, you should be able to point users to the template via normal conventions, such as \\server\forms\MyTemplate.xsn . I'm not sure how you could do this with a URN-based solution unless the form was installed on each user's computer. One HowTo you might want to take a look at is this one:http://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=fd7c86608b4344eaa46ac6a2829136b1

Sorry if I don't know too much about this subject, I haven't worked with it much! Good luck!
