Patrick and Jo-Anne, I watched your video "InfoPath Dashboard - Displaying Repeating Data in Libraries -- February 28, 2013 Webinar". Where I found a STEP by STEP to do that form? Could you share the .xsn for study? Thanks from a brazilian fan of Qdabra! Danilo Nogueira

I want to know if the samples have the routine to delete items in list if I delete items in Form. Thanks!

    Hi Danilao,

The qRules SubmitToSharePointList command supports removing list items that are removed from the form, as long as the ID node has the qRulesLastModified attribute (which is required for RefreshListItems anyway).  From Hilary’s blog:
A new attribute has to be added to your fields where you are keeping your list item IDs - qRulesLastModified. This attribute stores the date and time the form data was last saved to the list. When the refresh command runs, qRules compares the XML date & time values with the Last Modified column for the list item. If the list item was updated more recently, qRules overwrites the form values, using the mapping.xml to know which column writes to which field. If there is an item in the XML that has a list item ID, but can't be found in the list (and the command is run in Update mode), qRules deletes the data from the XML.

Don’s PDF tutorial is also relevant (and newer): http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/qrules/entry91121.aspx

Thanks, Patrick!! I bought Webinar kit with sample example in Qdabra website. Very works fine, except when I have a person type field. The submit dont insert the DisplayName of AD in the SharePoint list. This is right?? There are a workaround? Thanks!

    Hi Danilo,

On the PDF tutorial Patrick provided, it contains a guide on how to submit a Person/Group Picker to a SharePoint list (see page 46). The guide shows how to submit the specific value a People Picker control, but if you are only attempting to submit the DisplayName, the column should not be Person or Group type (see image below).

I'm also attaching a sample which you could use for reference. Let me know if this helps.

Hi guys, I found this demo on youtube and tried to build everything from the youtube video. It appears I have most of everything working, but two things that I see so far.

    1. I cant open/edit the forms I submit to the form library without it asking me to open it in InfoPath or save it, shouldn't it open in the browser? - FIXED by turning on manage content.

    2. I don't get any errors on the submit but the items aren't being pushed to the list? Any idea why? I'm going to double check the list  ID again to make sure I didn't have a typo when adding it to the "listname" field. - form is submitting twice to the form lib for some reason and not to the list.

any tips or hints as to why it doesn't give an error?

After trying the test with my connection file (in a different form (with only 3 fields) I get this:

    InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.
    <detail><errorstring xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/%22%3ECannot access a closed Stream.</errorstring></detail>

Can I see your form? You can attach it under Options in a reply. Most recently when I saw "cannot access a closed stream" using the Lists.asmx web service it was because a field was being submitted twice to a list (http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/30102/102862.aspx)

Form is attached. I'm currently creating a new one though just to see if I messed up. I bought the webinar kit this morning. im using it to do this but its a bit confusing since im trying to do it for a custom form and not an expense report. I really wanted to have the REQNumber field populate the ID once I submitted it for the first time and then queried the data.

I think I might of found out why it submits twice, in the kit I see the connection called submit to SharePoint library but i'm assuming you named it that but really the only submit I need is the webservice right?

If you are submitting data to list and a library, you'd execute two submit connections.... I'll take a look later this morning and let you know what I find.

Thanks Hilary. I tried with the new form i created (attached). and it submits once. I cant get it to pull the ID value in the REQNumber field, but that might be because of the error im getting (still not pushing to the list) Error from when in sharepoint: You do not have permissions to access a Web service that provides data required for this form to function correctly. Correlation ID:bbf4ee5f-679f-47cc-96a0-750c90156bc2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You do not have permissions to access a Web service that provides data required for this form to function correctly. Cannot access a closed Stream. Grr spoke too soon still submitting twice. ...continuing to tinker.

When you say the new form submits once, what do you mean? Your new form only submits to the library one time? Or does this form also submit to the library two times?

Are you able to access the lists.asmx web service in the browser?

Is the listItemID field being populated, currently? That is, are you failing when you try to add new items to your list, or when you try to add existing items?

You may also want to try just setting the title to start with - so modify your Add List Item test XML file to only have the title field, don't attempt any updates, but see if you can get your submit to the lists web service to just add a new item with the title populated.... Any required fields in your list? Any "choice" or "lookup" columns?

Oh. I see why your form submits twice. Because you have it submitting twice in the rules. In your library submit connection you have "allow overwrite if file exists" deselected - you'll want that selected. Your form name uses "now()" in it, so it is going to change every submit. I generally add a field to the form for FormName and have a form load rule that, if the field is blank, sets the value. That way the form name is stable for the life of the form.

Hilary, The list has standard columns (created from within SharePoint) so nothing special there. I am able to access the lists.asmx web server in the browser. (currently nothing is getting added to the list only the form library.) Will attempt to change the "Add List Item test XML". As far as the "allow overwrite if file exists" being deselected i edited and added it, but yet I'm still getting two copies. I even went as far as going into the List and making the title a non required field with no luck still :(
