    Filtering Data Source

    Hello,

I have a secondary data connection that receives data from SharePoint list and I bind this to a Drop-down.

Data that I have is as below:

    Country Name Responsible Person
    United States Person 1
    United States Person 2
    United States Person 3
    China Person 4
    China Person 5
    Belgium Person 6
    Spain Person 7

I show distinct values in the drop-down and this data connection is queried when form is loaded.

I want to filter the data source such that it returns the Responsible person based on value selected in the drop-down. I was able to achieve this for single value using Filter data on drop down change in InfoPath rules, but I am not able to find a way to get this done for multiple values.

For e.g. If the user selects United States, I want to have Person 1, Person 2 and Person 3 values.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    RT.

Please search this forum for the "current()" command. You'll need to use it to implement you cascading dropdown.

I want to fire the logic on Submit button click instead of having a cascading drop down.

I see that MainDataSource.CreateNavigator().SelectSingleNode() has an overload to pass XPathExpression. I tried to search for an example of XPathExpression, but without much success. Will XPathExpression help me to filter the nodes based on filter criteria I pass? Thanks.

Don't write code. This is entirely doable using cascading dropdowns and the current() xpath command. All declarative.
