Adding multiple records to a sharepoint list with 1 form

Hi all I have to duplicate a business form in infopath 2013 to store data in a sharepoint 2013 list The form has a header section with order numbers batch numbers and dates, the bottom detail section has bag numbers that pertain to the order numbers in the header section of the form. In this eg we are buying bags of concrete and each is labelled. The batch numbers and dates refer to each of the bags of concrete so we dont need to write them multiple times, thats why they are in the header section. To keep it simple there is 1 sharepoint list that has all the header and detail columns in one list. Normally in databases you would keep these separate but in this case they are not. That means that a lot of the data in the list will be repeated, which is ok in this case. What im not sure on is how to create an infopath form to make data entry easy. I dont want the user to have to key in the same header info over and over. So is there a way to either 1. Have a header section on the form you fill out once, then have a repeating section for just 1 field. When you submit the form, it will create multiple records in the sharepoint list which has the header section data + one of the repeating fields or 2. Build a form that has no repeat section, but just a header section then a fixed amount of detail sections that can be filled in or not. Then have some sort of code or rules applied that will scan the form and create a sharepoint list entry that will be the header fields + 1 of the detail fields and then loops around once for each of the detail fields. Thanks

    Hi zoonosis,

You can use default values to copy the header info to each row.

If you use a SharePoint list form, you can create multiple items (if you specify that during the create process and right click properties for the item and choose multiple), but you won't be able to edit (and there are other limitations). We recommend using InfoPath Form Libraries (not lists).

But, to map an InfoPath XML to the rows in a SharePoint list requires some CAML config or qRules : neither of these options are trivial.  On the other hand, you'll get you're repeating structure.

You definitely do not need code for this.

We have taped webinars showing how to use CAML and/or qRules to map to lists. Go to Youtube.com/Qdabra and search ...
