    validation not working properly

I really need this figured out. I have read some things online that there may be a bug with infopath 2010 for validation rules. The form works perfectly when I run it on my desktop. When I publish it and upload it to our sp site none of the validation rules work. I have two buttons. One is just for appearances and the other button actually submits data. I have on button go away once everything is filled out using "field 1 is not blank and field 2 is not blank etc." the other button hides until everything is filled out using field 1 is blank or field 2 is blank etc. Again, this works perfectly on the desktop and not at all once published to sp site. I have attached a .png with my form with the first button selected to give you a visual of what I am trying to do. Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Hi jdwilliams,

It looks like the rule is a formatting rule and not a validation rule. I'm not exactly sure why they wouldn't work when publishing the form to SharePoint.

I'm also wondering, why do you need the other submit button for display? You can disable the actual submit button until all the fields are filled out... that will get rid of the other "display" button. :)

Yea good thought. I don't know why I never thought to just disable the control. I will re-publish and see if that works. I still want to know why the formatting rules weren't working if anyone knows.

No idea. I've never heard of a condition limit for browser based forms. We have some very complex browser forms, but maybe none with 10 conditions. Are you using expressions to add the conditions? You might try it with 5 conditions and then 7 and see if there's a difference. Should be easy to debug if this is a number issue.

Ok, I have an update. I found out that it is the date picker validation that is the issue. Once I removed the date picker does not match custom patter, the button was enabled and they can submit the form. So now comes the question... Why does the custom pattern work when I run it on the desktop, but it does not work when I publish it to the web?

Very interesting. I don't know and this is weird. It should work from the browser, but the browser is a subset of filler functionality. Perhaps this is just one gap between them. Can you share your form and pattern? Maybe we can find another way to do it.
