Infopath Form not working on SP Site like it does on desktop

I am not sure if this is the correct place to put this question. Admin please redirect if it is in the wrong place. This is our companies first form to try to upload to sharepoint. I created a report request form and everything works perfectly fine when I preview the form on the desktop. We published the form to out form library on our SP site and a few things did not work like they did on the desktop. First the validation dialog boxes would not show up like they would on the desktop. I sort of fixed this problem by making every field yellow until something was filled out in that field. I also had a read only text box right above the submit button that said "once every field is filled out this message will go away" type of thing. The text box will disappear on the desktop, but it will not on the web. I also have the form set up with two submit buttons. Only one of them actually submits data. One appears once everything is filled out and the other disappears once everything is filled out. Also, a new view is supposed to appear when they click the real submit button confirming that the form has been submitted. I know this is not happening because nothing is getting sent to the the database if I click submit on the web, and the new view does not show. However, stuff does get sent to the database properly on the desktop and the view shows as well. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this properly? Why is this so difficult if infopath was built specifically for sharepoint anyway? Thanks.

Yes using InfoPath on the desktop can be different to viewing a form in a Web page.

If you haven't already publish your form to a Web Part Page.

Conditional formatting until a field is filled out is a great way to go. I really like doing that too.

Why have 2 submit buttons - is one a save button?

It sounds like your switch view rule is after your submit rule. I switch views, then submit the data.

InfoPath is easy with a little practice. It isn't used exclusively with/for SharePoint although that's where most of us use it.

If you haven't already read and go through the Step By Step Book using InfoPath with SharePoint or check out the Lynda.com training videos, they really helped me when I was learning.

I have two submit buttons because I currently don't know how else to do it. One button does not do anything at all. Once everything is filled out like it should be the button that does nothing disappears and the button that submits data appears. My question is why aren't the validation rules working on the site like they do on the desktop? Two things are supposed to be happening: 1. A read only text box should go away once everything is not blank. (This happens on the desktop, once it is published to our site it no longer does this) 2. The button that does nothing should go away, and the button that submits the data should appear. (This happens on the desktop, once it is published to our site it no longer does this)

Web forms interact differently with the browser than InfoPath on the desktop.

You could use on the buttons to check of missing fields with a rule that each field can't be blank - this then acts as a refresh.
