    Email Submit - Add Attachments

    Greetings,

I have a form with data connections set up to submit to a Sharepoint Library and Email. The active view of the form shows in the body of the email, no issues there. Any attachments added using the Add Attachments object in the form do not appear.

From what I have investigated so far, it looks like the actual form data itself occupies the only attachment slot in the email, so any additional attachments that I am adding won't appear either in the library or in the recipients email.

A solution I am investigating is the use of repeating tables to accommodate the multiple attachments.

There was another post of having the attachment show up as a hyper-link to the SharePoint Library.

So if I want to continue to have the active view of my form in the body of the email and have additional attachments included, what are my options using InfoPath 2010?

    Many Thanks!

We have done solutions that use custom code and Outlook interop to send e-mails with attachments from InfoPath, but this is fairly complex and requires a full trust form.

Possibly a better solution is to save your attachments out to SharePoint to convert them to links, and then you would have the links in the body of your e-mail. This requires either custom code or a webservice, but it can be done quite easily using qRules.

    Hi Jimmy,

    Thanks for your response.

I have a form that is set up to submit multiple attachments to a SharePoint library. So far so good.

Decode the attachments, dump them in a separate library, create some hyper-links is all that is left.

There is another option that I am looking into, developing a workflow using SharePoint Designer and have the workflow generate the email with the form data, but I am not sure if there are limitations doing it this way yet. It doesn't look like the active view can be transposed...

I have 'injected' one of my forms already with qRules. Just in the process of getting that working and looking at the new functionality that qRules brings to InfoPath.

It seems strange that there are no errors in the design checker that flag the use of attachments when submitting to email...

Well attachments work with email. But, best practice is to convert them to links like you are doing.
