editing a sharepoint 2013 list with Infopath 2010

    Hi

As the title suggest, it is possible to customise a sharepoint 2013 list with infopath 2010, I created a custom list on SP2013 and when pressing customise form, its open a 2nd Internet browser

with this in the address bar ms-infopath:csl|u|https://myservername|l|{58822998-4EDE-4C0C-A4AD-CE0C86D8D1CF}  I guess it is trying to open infopath with the server name and List ID instead of launching infopath 2010.

I can create a blank form using infopath 2010 and publish it to SP2013 site, but again when trying to customise form, it opens the browser and not the infopath.

My first thoughts are Work PC restrictions, i.e. the pc blocking the launch of the application, however has anyone experienced this problem/ has a resolution.

    Thanks in advance

    SB

The customize form is only a SP form - not a true InfoPath form. If you published a form from IP2010 into SP 2013, then you have to open that form in IP2010 again to make changes. The customize button is not connected to this form.

It is kinda confusing why that created 2 ways of doing forms AND they have different options and fields that you can use. The customize form is very limiting so most of us do not use that option. We open IP, create the form, upload, make changes in IP and publish the changes. Look at http://www.wonderlaura.com/ book on InfoPath and SP. She explains the difference and why to use which type of form.

Thanks,  I understand the difference between the forms types, having built both types, My question has anyone got Infopath 2010 installed and clicked customise form on a SP2013 site and it open infopath ok, I need to find out if I need infopath 2013 installed or can remain with infopath 2010

InfoPath 2013 forms cannot be edited with InfoPath 2010. If the form was saved as an InfoPath 2010 form, the InfoPath 2010 designer can edit it.

I think I already know the answer but...  I designed the form using InfoPath 2013 but unfortunately am saving to a SharePoint 2010 site.  Most of the desktops in my organization are still running Office 2010 and all will eventually upgrade to Office 2013.  When I attempt to save and publish the form as InfoPath 2010 form I get the following Design Checker error:  "The specified programming language is not supported"  Any suggestions

Do you have code in the form? You should be able to change the compatibility to InfoPath 2010 - under Form Options / Compatibility.
