    Open URL with button

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to use a button to open a url. I want to use the OpenUrlInBrowser command in qrules but the command isnt working properly. I am being confused as the qrules user guide either has a typo or it's how it should be

The command in sub title is: "OpenUrlInBrowser" yet in example it shown as OpenUrlnBrowser /url=. It's like this in 2 examples in the user guide. Once for the OpenForm and then again for OpenUrlInBrowser. I would like to know which is the proper way to call on this command. It's hard to distinguish the lower case L and the upper case i . I know this is a smaller question but it's driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

Hi - sorry about the issue in the user guide - we will get that typo fixed.

So - do you have the Error node on your form so you can see if you are getting any errors?

    The command should be:

    OpenUrlInBrowser /url=http://www.qdabra.com

So - Open Url In Browser, without the spaces. And your form needs to be full trust and the command is not browser compatible....

    Thanks Hilary,

Worked perectly soon as i enabled full trust. The OpenForm command, it's example says OpenUrlInBrowser as well. I take it's meant to be OpenForm /path? or is it /url? or is either sufficient? Just asking for my own knowledge sake.

The bug in the OpenForm document, we got that fixed in 5.1 - here's the user guide info for that:

    OpenForm

Opens an XSN form, using an XML file if provided. Not browser compatible.

    Parameters:

o path: Path or URL to XSN to open.

o data: Path or URL to XML to open. If /path is also provided, /data will be opened with that template.

o dsname (optional): Data source for node indicated by /xpath parameter to provide data for template indicated by path.

o xpath (optional): XPath for node with data to be used with template provided by /path parameter.

o new: (optional) true|false - defaults to true. Set to false to open existing XML. If false, must include /data parameter.

    Example:

    o OpenForm /path=http://testserver/site/FormLibrary/template.xsn

    o OpenForm /path=C:\Users\ernestom\Desktop\qRules\Test forms\ExpenseReport.xsn /data=http://shp2010-test2/ExpenseReportTest/2012-09-28.xml /new=true

    Additional observations:

o The OpenForm command is only availble in client forms.

o Either /path or /data must be specified.

    Hi Hilary,

I have a form utilizing this OpenUrlInBrowser command and it is working fine for one of my forms. I attempted to use the command again in a new form and it tells me it isn't browser compatible in the execution history table.

The form in question is a filler form and it is fully trusted and signed with a certificate, just as the original form.

I also attempted to use the OpenForm command and it too has failed with the same error.

Not sure as to why it would give me this error as it is a filler form.

When you injected qRules, did you select the Rich Client option?

This is going to sound nuts, but you injected this form with qdabra for us. I want to say like 3 months ago. Do you remember the really complicated nested form I made that had trouble with copying of the SQL data into the nested structure?

    It's that form....

Hah! Well, it could be I didn't inject it with the Client version - do you have qRules installed? Can you re-inject with Rich Client selected?

I do, unfortunately it's not on this machine.  I'll try getting it reinjected and see if it clears up the problem. Thanks again. ;)
