    Editing List Form Issues

I'm assisting someone with a list that has a long tortured history. The list was originally created in SP 2003 and the new/edit/view forms were customized in SPD. The site was migrated to 2007, then to 2010. The original purpose of editing the form was to add a Print button and to display the ID field on the form itself.

The problem now is that ID field is still visible, but the actual ID data doesn't appear. I went into the form in SPD and nothing looks amiss. The person I'm working with has tried on numerous occasions to fix this, or make other changes, and every time they do, it breaks and they have to do a restore from SQL.

I was relunctant to muck around with it myself given those previous issues, so I suggested making a template of the list, creating a new one, then trying to edit the form in InfoPath to bring it into the current universe. Great idea, except ... when we open the form in IP Designer, we get this error:

"the following fields in the sharepoint list are not supported because of their data type" etc. The additional bit of information is that the field reference is -Name (file).

I've read a lot about this particular error but everything I've read assumes that the field in question is a Managed Metadata field. That's not the case here. I've looked high and low in the list itself and in the InfoPath data sources and do not see a field named just Name.

BTW, the user is using InfoPath 2013; we have NOT gotten an error about version compatability.

    Any ideas?

Hi Funniegrrl and sorry about the delay (btw: we look at un-responded posts on a weekly basis so responding to your post means we ignored it again)....

Have you tried adding the list to your form anew to see if it detects the list schema correctly? That's the only thing I can thing of. Modifying the data connection could also do the trick, but might not be reversible if it doesn't work (so be careful).

Sorry I don't have any silver bullets for your SharePoint 2003 zombie list data types.
