SP 2010 InfoPath Filler Admin approved form gives popup errors

    Hi

I am using SP 2010 with infopath 2010 filler based admin approved forms. I am getting the popup errors for data connections and user profile webservice errors after I upload a newer version of the Infopath form in Central admin (Manage form templates).

So whenever, user tries to open a new instance of this form from the docuement library it throws number of popup errors on the screen. User has to click on "OK" to proceed on each popup error before the form opens completely in the InfoPath filler. This only happens when the user opens the form for the first time whenever a new version gets uploaded. The next time the users open this form he/she never receive those pop errors.

As a precuationary measure I try to clear InfoPath Cache from the server but it does not help. It is not feasible for me to do the same for client machines as there are hundreds of client machines.

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Amit

    What do the errors say?

    aammiitt2:

The next time the users open this form he/she never receive those pop errors.

And when the form opens the second time, all data connections are loaded correctly?

When a new version of the form template is uploaded we expect an upgrade process. In InfoPath 2010 Filler, I would expect a yellow bar to appear at the top of the form asking the user to upgrade the form template. Are you not seeing this yellow bar?

    1. The popup errors for invalid data connections are somewhat misleading when we open the form for the first time. We just click Ok to navigate away from the popups and the form open with all the data connections as expected. The user gets the option to save and update the form. 2. The next time the user open the form he/she never receives those misleading data connection errors. It looks to be a cache related issue. Why do we need to clear the InfoPath cache every time we upload a newer version of form. But this cache issue still needs to be verified. Thanks, Amit

The only thing that comes to mind is that the data connections changed between the old and new XSN versions. Thus when InfoPath cache tries to connect to the old data connections, these fail. The user closes InfoPath and the new XSN template is obtained, where the data connections work.

    Could that be the case?

It looks to be exactly what you have said. I think the solution would be clear infoPath cached previous versions from the client machines. Thanks, Amit
