Block developing mode in published Form

    Hi @all

I am sorry for bombarding you with my questions, but time is running and I need to hurry up!
As my form is nearly finished I want to publish it for test, but how can I organise that
    1. a user only can fill out a form and save it (SAVE AS!!!! not overwrtiging my form!!)
    2. but does not change the form in developer mode??

Would be very nice if you help me!

open your form in design mode and click on tools, go to form options and click on the General Tab.

    check the Enable Protection.
These steps aviods the user in developer mode.

    1. When you open a form template infopath creates a new form called form1, when you click save or save as the new form is saved, the original template is not changed

    2. as Sandeep said

    Thanks a lot you two!!
I´m getting more and more desperate about my "infopath-Project"
in fact I´m feeling quite left alone by MS INfopath, because eyery problem/question I have I only find answers here or in the net - and not in the help of Infopath :-(

The help in InfoPath is pretty good, if you know what terms to use to ask the question. Of course that's not going to work for all the new concepts. :) Hang in there. InfoPath is a complex new product with several new conecepts very foreign to desktop applications. Our forums are here to help you get on your feet to enjoying InfoPath. Cheers! :)

Shiraz I have to tell you that for a newby in XML, XPath, Infopath a.s.o. the help isn´t really good, or better: kind of missing important things.
For example practical advice or how-to-dos. Or the really important feature "preceding-sibling". I´ve searched a lot, no chance. (I´m searching in German and tried the englisch word an a hundreds of possible translations)
This I think would help a lot.

But I ´m in fact very happy and thankful that I´ve found this forum here. Here I found answers to nearly all my questions, also in the archiv.
The only thing I have problems with are Gregs code-Examples :-)
(still struggling with the fully editable list box)

Also, for a newbie you are really delving into an advanced topic "preceeding::sibling". That's great! It sounds like what you're looking for is help on custom XPATH functions. Try the "References" area in our "Resources" page for a pointer to XPATH, XSLT and other more advanced topics.

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but i need a way to keep the user from ever being able to go into design mode for my form. I've read in the past that isnt a way, and it looks like not much has changed. If a user has the form on there desktop they can right click and go into design mode , I need to avoid this. I know originally Infopath was suppose to be able to only use the "fill out a form" option on install. But i dont think it ever made it into the deployed version. Is there a way to lock users out?

    Shiraz, Patrick,
thanks of you I got this far!
Now there are 2 additional weeks remaining until I have to push out the forms, we will see how they will do in "real life".
This I want to use for trying the caching thing and the fully editable list box.
Especially there I don´t knwo how to start with Gregs example. I downloaded the files, ok, but now?!?!
The caching thing I start reading tonight or tomorrow. I´m afraid this will get hard!!
