    Submitting a form using the concat function and date - how can I edit without changing filename?

     Hello,

    I am submitting a form to a SharePoint library using the concat function below as the filename:

    concat(EmployeeName, " ", now())

    However, after the initial submission, if someone again goes and edits that document, it resubmits the file with a new filename.  Is there any way to confirm that the filename is unique, but still allow edits after the original file is created?

    Thank you

     Hi - I usually use a field in the form with a default value - you can use the formula you are using now in the default value, then set the data connection to use that field for the form name. Currently, now() is being evaluated on each submit. If it is used in a default value, it won't be evaluated repeatedly and the file can overwrite.

    What if I changed the action of the button the second time it was opened?

     How could I hide the original button, and then show a second button that was just a save and close rather than a submit?

     It would be easy enough to check a hidden field upon initial submit and if it exists when the document is opened show the other button.

     I'm just not sure how to create the control to change the view.
