Infopath form opening blank IE page in Sharepoint.

    Infopath form opening blank IE page in Sharepoint.

    This is probably an Sharepoint issue but maybe someone has heard of this issue. I have an infopath form that is in a sharepoint library.  Every time I open a new form, it will open a blank IE page and will prompt me if I want to Open or Save.  When I open the form,  the extra blank page is still there in another tab.  I have Infopath client so I have the settings Opening Documents in Browser set to “Open in the client Application”.  Can’t find any other setting that will change this behavior.   Thank you for your time.

     Does it work for somebody else as expected?

    I'd reset your IE settings first, restart IE and run something like CCleaner - http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

    It happens to everyone who opens the form.   For some people, the blank page opens, then you close the page and then, it will prompt you to open or save the form.  But you have to close the blank page first.

    Any ideas how to fix this?  I created a test library and created a basic form. It works fine. My other forms consist of drop downs pulling from lists in Sharepoint and a lot of calculations. I’m sure it is just some setting but it is very annoying for my customers.  Thank you

    Ok- Just found out something.  This only happens to my form Libraries that are in "Datasheet View"  .  Now, to figure out WHY??

     I'm sorry no one seems to be able to provide input on this - good detective work on tracking it down so far. Does it matter if the data sheet view is the default? Or just happens no matter what if the library is in datasheet view?

     So, I just tried this - IP 2013, ShP 2010, IE 2010. I set my view in a library to datasheet view and opened a new form (from the ribbon new document option) and it just opened, no extra window, no warning, etc. My ShP site is in my local intranet. Sorry - I know this isn't too helpful, but just wanted to try it and see what happened.

    Ok I think I got it. After a lot of trial and error, I found to set the .xml extension association to Microsoft InfoPath 2010.  Doesn't come up with the extra page and it opens right up. Which is fine because all of our users have Infopath.
