    Rule repeated in inspector

I have what I thought to be 2 simple rules.
If a drop down value = x then 3 text fileds are set to abc. If the drop down box has a value of Y then the 3 text fields are set to cba

I open the form (IP 2010 - filler) and change the value in the drop down and all works fine but then if I toggle the drop down back to it's original value I get the error regarding infinite loops on the onchanged events and the rules being aborted.
I'm confused why this is the case.

I open the rule inspector and I see my rules listed multiple times and I also don't understand why.

Here is a screen shot showing the 2 rules for the drop down field and also the multiple listings in the rule inspector.
    Any ideas?

    Re: Rule repeated in inspector

I'm sorry, I don't see the rule being repeated.

There is a rule called Refer and it executes on three different fields:

    • InvoiceThisOffer
    • PaymentInstructions
    • RetainValue

There's another rule called InvoiceOffice on the same three controls.

I would guess the problem is happening on the field called InvoiceThisOffice, since one of the actions tries to set the value of that same field. This could lead you into the loop.

Thanks, i was referring to the view on the left hand side where the rules appear to be repeated.

Unless I'm missing something, the drop down is changing the value/formula for 3 text boxes.
One of the rule names is the same name as one of the controls which may be misleading.
But it's if dropdown box = valueA then change 3 text box controls, if valueB then do same

I can't see any possible loop?

    Re: Rule repeated in inspector

Have just realised that if I put values in the 3 text boxes (before toggling the drop down values) then all works fine.

I can change the drop down value and the 3 text controls will redraw/recalculate themselves fine.
Maybe their is a logic/math error in one of the actions for when the control is empty... can't see it but will keep looking
