creating a rule to open an optional section

I would like open an optional section based on the value selected from a drop-down list.  Is it possible to do this with a rule?  I tried using an action rule and didn't know what to select from the Add drop down menu on the Action portion of the rule creation.  Does anyone know how I can drive the opening of an optional section based on a drop-down value?

    Thanks!

On your optional section use a formatting rule. Where the value, not the display value of the drop down list doesn't equal X hide your optional section.

Re: creating a rule to open an optional section

This works great for closing one of the optional sections but how can I get the an alternative optional section to then open?

For example, I have values A and B in my drop-down list, A being the default value.  I have optional section A and optional section B, A defaulting to open.  Optional sections A and B, should display where their respective A and B values from the drop-down list is selected.

Your rule helps me hide optional section A when B is selected from the drop-down but I need to be able to have optional section B open in turn.

Any ideas?  I appreciate your help!

Re: creating a rule to open an optional section

I've got lost in all the As and Bs.

    So if I get it

Drop Down A opens Optional A
Drop Down B opens Optional B

On optional B, rule if Drop Down Value doesn't equal B, hide control.

You'll need a rule on each optional section.  If you get one working you should be able to copy the rule and change the fields as required.
