One repeating table is filtered to display in multiple sections of form - how to get count of each section

I didn't know where to post this question.  I am using InfoPath 2007 client forms and SharePoint 2007.

I'm retrieving one set of data from SQL database (using DBXL and qRules) to display in a repeating table. I've created 6 different sections (using same repeating table)  which are filtered to only display a portion of the data.

I used a expression box with default value position() to sequentially number each row in a section. (I want the rows in each section to start with #1) which is one of my requirements.

Now I need to get the count of only the displayed rows in each section or the number of the max row in that section.  I tried count(preceding-sibling blah blah) with a filter but that isn't working.

Is it possible to get the value of the last row in the section (postion()).

My goal is to average the scores on each row - divide (sum of all rows) by (total number of rows) in each section - the section being only the rows that are displayed in that section.  Is this possible?  How do I get a count of rows in a filtered section?

Hey Doreen - we do try to get to as many questions as we can - but I am glad you figured it out. If you feel your solution would be of benefit to other forum users, please feel free to add it to this thread.

No worries.  I figured if I could figure it out from various postings then my answer wouldn't add any value.
