Have to click button twice to change field value

My web based form evaluates the Success Node from QdabraRules and presents Submission Success message to the user if the Success Node is set to true, which works well.  However, I would like to set that value back to false to hide the message if the user moves to another view in form or closes the form.  I have set a rule on a button to set the Success Node value to false, however the rule does NOT fire unless I click the button twice.  I've tried changing the post back property on the button and the success node but no change in behavior.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi - so, when are you setting Success back to false? Another button? Is this the only qRules command you are using? That is - nothing else would be setting it back to true?

You can always post a screenshot under the options tab in a reply to show what the rules look like. :)

Re: Have to click button twice to change field value

    Hi,

My button switches to another view and then tries to set the Success value back to false.  It does not seem like these 2 actions can be coupled together.  I've noticed that if I am already sitting in a given view then the rule to set the Success value back to false fires, but if switch view rule fires the set value rule is ignored.  The attached file shows the rules.  The first one switches views, the second sets the value.  I've tried them in the reverse order but same behavior.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Interesting! Does it work in preview (filler)? Do you have the success field on the view you are switching to so you can see its value? Does the same thing happen if you try to set a different field in combination with switching views?

No, in preview/filler I get the same behavior where I have to click the button a second time to reset the value. I did place the success field on the page I'm switching to and it remains set to true after I switch to the view and changes to false when I click the button a second time. Yes, the same behavior occurs if I try to use a different field i.e. setting a value in a text box.

What version of InfoPath are you using? I want to see if I can reproduce this.

I figured out my problem.  Truly a newbie mistake.  I didn't include my rule on every single view. Duh.  Sorry to waste your time.

    Thanks.

You know what? Sometimes it is some crazy little bug some place and not a newbie mistake. :)  Glad you found it & don't feel silly - just the other day I forgot to change something in two different (similar) views and could not figure out why I couldn't see my change.
