Populate list box with data from Multi Value SharePoint column

I have searched and searched and can't find where anyone has answered this particular situation.

    Players:

List - Using 2 columns. One is a Single value, the other is a multi-value column (choice)

InfoPath form - data connection to list

    Scene 1: I have a repeating table with 2 columns. Column 1 = Dropdown list , Column 2 - List box

In this scenario, Item is chosen from dropdown list and the corresponding values (ones that have been selected) from the Multi-Choice column for that particular item are displayed in the list box. Not as choices but just as a list.

This doesn't work with the standard cascading list filtering. I am kind of lost here. Can it be done OOTB or do I need to use Qrules?

    Hi Bejeweled,

The problem with multi-value is that they are all glommed together. So, you have to parse them out. You could use the substring function to parse the values out separately but this will require some work and you'll have to add a corrresponding secondary data source with a repeating table that has the correct XML structure. The Players list isn't a true XML structure, so the multi-value column is no doubt just a string with spaces in it or something.

Anyway, assuming that you don't have any multi-word entries, you should be able to break the multi-value strings apart using substring with a space (" ") search to separate them. It will be a bit of a tricky xpath. Contact us and we'll schedule some time to show you.

    Thanks!
