    New To InfoPath

Hi I am new to InfoPath and was wondering what the requirements are for InfoPath to work with SharePoint 2007.

    Thank you.

Hi - what do you mean by "work with"? You should be able to use even IP 2003 and publish a form to SharePoint for use in the client - if you are wanting to create browser forms for ShP 2007, you'll need IP 2007. IP 2010 / IP 2013 can also be used to create ShP 2007 compatible browser forms.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you Hilary for the quick reply. That was very helpful.
I'm just trying to break down to pick the best option for my requirements.

Rough Scenerio: Basic information needs to be entered, data enetered needs to be stored on an Excel sheet on ShP.  Excel will generate graphs and display as a web part.

For this I was thinking it would be easier to have ShP users enter data directly into the Excel sheet stored on ShP document library and use Excel web part display it.

So - you are trying to use InfoPath to enter data in to Excel? I'm having trouble understanding how InfoPath comes into play in what you are describing above. :)

Hi, I wanted to ask you for help since it seems that you might know what I am looking for. I work in a private company and we are trying to update our forms with something easier to use. The intent is to manage (make changes, edit, update, create new forms) the forms on SharePoint as well fill out the forms in the browser within a SharePoint webpart and fill out the forms externally via a link. I am new to InfoPath 2013, but as I have played with it I am learning more. So far I have been able to create forms that we need with a few features I am looking into (filtered drop downs, selected required fields). What are the requirements to make, edit and fill out forms with InfoPath 2013 and SP 2007? I keep hearing about InfoPath Services, the Enterprise license and other SharePoint Services? I do not know how to write code.

Every time I publish a form to a created form library, it says it can't open it because it is published on my computer. It gives me the location of where the original form was created even though I published it in the form library. InfoPath always tries to open when I want to be able to fill out the form right on the web. I don't know how to find a link for a published form, to add to a webpart or open in a browser.

I would really appreciate it if you can help or direct me to other resources. Thank you in advance.

Hi - if you are using SharePoint 2007 and want to fill your form out in the browser, the form will have to be admin approved and uploaded to Central Admin. http://spsfactory.blogspot.com/2006/11/enabling-infopath-forms-services-2007.html

Your form will need to be an InfoPath 2007 browser form - you can change that under Form Options > Compatibility in InfoPath designer. You can use InfoPath 2013 to design a 2007 compatible browser form.

It sounds as if you are not publishing correctly, if you are getting an error about the form being published on your computer. You are walking through the publishing wizard? Any chance you initially did not publish correctly and the "bad" template is cached?

Thank you. I change the compatibility to 2007 and verified it with the Design Checker. However I am getting this warning. "Could not verify the form template on the target server." I think that's just because it hasn't been admin approved. I will have to get with my Net Admin to get it admin approved. I don't think we have InfoPath Services enabled and I'm not sure how to get that enabled unless it's just a check box of some sort.

I went through the publishing wizard and selected Form Library. I do get a message .. "This form template is browser-compatible, but it cannot be browser-enabled on the selected site"

I'm still able to publish it but, I'm guessing this needs the admin approve too before I can publish it properly. The thing is, I don't want to set this form as the template. I already have a template set up when I select New Form in the Form Library. I want to add this form to the library so that users can fill it out.

How would I check "bad" templates in the cache? Can I delete them?

In InfoPath 2013, open InfoPath filler. Go to the File > New menu. Under Available Forms, find the template. Right click and select Remove.
