    Query Builder error messages

I am currently following Hillary's tutorial "Use DBXL submit with existing SQL data" with my own database, which is similar to the one in the tutorial.  Form is setup in DAT successfully.

Query Builder is throwing errors on connection - I was able to create the connection in Query Builder one time yesterday (before DAT was setup), but since then it has not been able to reconnect.

First error: "The query cannot be run for the followign DataObject: DescribeDatabaseSchema.  InfoPath cannot run the specified query.  The parameter is incorrect"

followed by 2nd error: "A required data source is not available.  Some form elements, such as drop-down list, may be blank"

followed by a 3rd error message: "An error occurred trying to refresh the database description: InfoPath has encountered an error.  The operation failed.  The form's code contains an error"... (there is no code in the form).."The following call in the form's code failed: WebServiceAdapter.Query Opertaion aborted"

Any tips on what to look for?

Check the value of the queryxml immediately before the query executes. It seems like the value in queryxml might be invalid or badly formatted (or even blank).

I'm confused. I'm using several tutorials to piece together how to do my project.  I thought I was supposed to use Query Builder first,  to create the queryxml?

Sorry, obviously I'm the one who is confused! :)

I'm not sure why QueryBuilder would stop connecting, unless there was some change in the environment, permissions, on the server, etc.

Unfortunately, solving this would require taking a look at the way the connection is put together in QueryBuilder, and then look at DBXL/SQL to make sure all permissions are set correctly. I realize you probably did this yesterday, but on the off chance that something on the server changed, it would be good to double check.

    Re: Query Builder error messages

My DAT connection between server and form works which I understand uses app pool account.  Security on database matches the way database QdabraDBXL is set, and like I said, it connects in DAT successfully

Query Builder I understand,  uses my user account so there should be no problem.  My account has sysadmin priviledges on SQL server I'm trying to access. Query Builder is installed on my local machine.  In web service  URL prefix is my local machine typed in as \\MACHINENAME  .  I can send a screenshots of everything but I don't want to do it on a public forum.

What dropdown lists is the error message referring to?  The controls on my form template?  or the controls on Query Builder form?  Is the datasource it cannot connect to my machine or SQL?  How do I know?

Could this happen if my DAT database mapping is incorrect?

    Doreen:

Shouldn't this be /">http://<servername>/ (where QdabraWebService is located)?

The error is referring to the connections/controls in the QueryBuilder tool itself and it is unrelated to the Database mapping in DAT.

    Re: Query Builder error messages

Urgh.  I must have misunderstood the tutorial by Jo-Anne Alfafara that I watched on youtube this week. I thought she said to use the machine name where Query Builder is installed (I installed it on my local machine), in the web service URL -- the video was blurry, and the sound was bad...

    http://SHAREPOINTSERVER, worked!

Thank you Ernesto for being persistent with me.
