Query Logic Question - Change entered data, then query with that as a parameter

    Hi there,

I have users entering a "code" into a field.  If the code is of the format:
###.#### (3 numbers, period, 4 numbers), then do nothing.

If it is 4 numbers, add "09" to end then execute my query.

If it is 6 numbers, immediately execute my query.

All other values entered into the field should be invalid entries.

Anyone able to help me with this logic?  Not sure on if I use a rule on changedevent to do all of this, or?  Still wrapping my head around Infopath and not sure what best approach is.

    Thx,

    Robin

Not sure if it is the best solution or not, but what I ended up doing is having a ChangedEvent then moving all the logic out to the CodeBehind and dealing with it there.  I query the node for it's value, validate the input and query various DB connections based upon the value then set extra fields.

You probably could have done this with rules - one option is matches pattern / doesn't match patter and you can a regex to see if the field matches a certain pattern as a condition for rules.
