I've been at this for probably 6 hours now and I still cant seem to get it to work. I've tried a good deal of searches but nothing seems to help. And Oh, I'm a newb when it comes to both SharePoint and InfoPath. I'm sure you've never heard that one!
I'm trying to pull a specific employee record and populate the fields in an InfoPath form with that data. Some of the data is used to just display on the screen and some is used to do calculations. For example, I'm trying to pull the "Hire Date" among other things, from a specific list on SharePoint (a different list other than the one the form is attached to), of the Current User filling out the form. I have tried to set the default value of the field to the specific entry in the other list with data filtered to only contain the current user. I've tried to create a rule that runs when the form is opened to set the value of the field to the value of the other field with the results filtered so that it only contains the entries of the user filling out the form. Then I tried all of this again but instead of filtering the results in Infopath, I created a view in SharePoint that only displays the entries specific to the user accessing the list. I can open the list and verify that the results on the SharePoint site are filtered and only contain the entries with the current users username, but It doesn't work when I try to put the information in the form. I also tried to set the fields to different datatypes but that didn't help neither. When I try to open the form in the browser, the fields are just blank. So far I don't think I've seen any indication that infopath is pulling ANY data from the other SharePoint list.
I'm stuck at this point, and any help is greatly appreciated.
