Autoincrement number using a second list

    Hi

    Newbie on infopath 2010 here.

I'd like to ask if there is a way to set an infopath's newform on using a second list to gather the Item ID?

I've done this once on Sharepoint Designer alone, but I have no idea on how to apply it on Infopath.

Basically what I want to do is whenever a certain list's newform loads, an entry will automatically be created in a second custom list.

From there the ID of that newly created item will then be retrieved and will then be displayed in a field on the newform once finished loading.

Is there a solution for this using only infopath designer 2010 and spd2010 alone?

    Please help. Thanks.

    Hi Kamishiro_Takuto

I donĀ“t know how to create automatically the entry in the second list. (I think this trouble you have to solve with VB or C# code)

To do the retrieve, You have to create a new conection data for retrieve and set your second list and the colum ID for the retrieve. The second you have to do is create in your first form a Text Box and add a Action Rule. This action will be "Set value field" the you select the field and press FX btn and Select the Colum ID from the retrieve ID. If you want to the the lastest ID put a Xpath formula like this:

    xdMath:Max(xdXDocument:GetDOM("retrievelIDs")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW/d:ID)
