Error at calling SharePoint UserProfileService webservice function for domain trust

    Hi All,

We have lots of forms using SharePoint UserProfileService web service to retrieve user informaion, like accountid, email, telephone and etc.

My company just acquired another company. Both sides have setup the domain trust. Lets say my company domain is AAAA, the acquired company domain is BBBB.

InfoPath form uses Contact Selector on the form for user selection, and it users GetUserProfileByName web function to retrieve users information.

When user in domain AAAA tries to create a request through InfoPath Form for users in domain BBBB, Contact Selector is able to find the user in domain BBBB (i.e BBBB\user1), but the form returns error at retrieving the user information at calling GetUserProfileByName.

    The error is like:

The query cannot be run for the following DataObject "GetuserProfileByName.

InfoPath cannot run the specified query.

The SOAP response indicates theat the error occrued:

A use with the account name BBBB\user1 could not be found  ->  User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database.

I also noticed all other data connections which receiving data from SharePoint list, or from customized web services (the ones I created and put on sharepoint server) are working fine.

I have turn on "Cross-Domain Access for User Form Templates", but no luck.

    What could be the problem?

    Thanks,

    David

Re: Error at calling SharePoint UserProfileService webservice function for domain trust

    Hi David,

Is the form trying to get the credentials for the current user?  If so, there's a little known quirk with cross domain access regarding SharePoint.  You might try instead of BBBB\user, use concat("BBBB\", username()).  If that doesn't work, you may need to establish an impersonation user in Secure Store Server in SharePoint, then use the formula before.

If you need a link to where I found the solution, it's under a previous post in the Data Connections forum.

    Hope this helps.
