    Mulitple List Items

I am new to Infopath and need help submitting multiple list items to a SharePoint List. Assumptions: Using InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint 2010, Form is connected to SharePoint list, Form is accessible to anonymous external users. Here is my scenario: I have an item request form. Users must fill in "name", "address", "contact", and "item" fields in the request form. As of now, my form allows them to submit a request for 1 item, and it creates 1 corresponding list item. I want to allow users to request multiple items and create corresponding list items for each item in the request without having to input "name", "address", and "contact" fields multiple times. Each list item will have duplicated "name", "address", and "contact" fields. However, the item fields will be different according to the request items. Is this possible?

    Hi Bgl1191 and welcome,

First of all, out-of-box list forms cannot submit repeating data. You can create an InfoPath List Form from InfoPath Designer that submits multiple rows to a list. Start InfoPath Designer, choose SharePoint List. Specify the SharePoint site and make sure you enable repeating items on the dialog - don't miss the checkbox. After creating it, you will need to right click the section in the view and enable multiple items. Then, submitting multiple items on create should work. Each item can copy the name-address-contact from the previous item using a default value (double click the field and set it).

If you need to use the existing list and you cannot create a new list, you may want to create a full fledged InfoPath form that maps to the list. This is the most flexible option since you have all of the functionality of InfoPath and it will not have all of the List form limitations. You can watch the weekly webinar from last week on Qdabra's YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/Qdabra) for the technique that will support submitting repeating items from an InfoPath form to a SharePoint list.

So, to summarize, you have various options and YES it is possible.

    Good luck on your journey.

Thank you, Patrick! I have enabled multiple items but the problem is the copying the fields into each of the following list items. What formula will be used to input default values from the previous item?
