    Submit to Sharepoint List

    Hello,

Following on from my trouble with the publishing issue I had, I now cannot get any information submitted to my list. The form submits to the library fine but the list has nothing.

I had this working previously and cannot understand now why nothing happens. I know I am probably doing something silly.

I seemed to be getting a behaviour where it works for the first few times but then stops. Now I cannot get any info to my list.

I am attaching my mapping file and the command is as follows: SubmitToSharePointList /submit=jaslistsubmit /mapping=jasmapping. I have watched the case when submitting.

I also attached my test xsn.

The doclibrary and the list are within the same site. Would that be a problem? I would have thought not.

    Regards,

    Barry

    Hello,

I recreated my mapping file and started the form from scratch.

I believe my repeating group mapping was incorrect but I also was using a form from last night that had been injected as admiin deploy and then reinjected as sandbox. Not sure of this would make a difference.

Me again. I can confirm that all works in preview but when I publish the form the submit to list does not work.

     HELP!

OK, i attach my new current mapping and my form. The reason I do so is that when I preview the form it saves to the library and submits to the list except for my non repeating fields.

In preview my non repeating fields are not submitting to the list so there is something wrong with my mapping.

    Pretty sure its my mapping.

Bigger problem is when published submit to list does not work.

FYI. I have no qrule controls on the form.

    Hi Barry,

Is this the same question as this?:

    http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/25220.aspx

    That is,

    • we reinjected the form,
    • turned on the sandbox service,
    • checked that you were a site collection admin,
    • and tested with a Test form with code.

It seems all of this was working at some point? What changed (on the form or on the server) that perhaps caused this to stop working?

Have you checked the QdabraRules Error node to see if there is a message being returned?

Are the postback settings on your controls set correctly (to Always postback)?

I don't see an XSN attached, just FYI...

    Hi Ernesto,

Its connected. When I tested, I tested that it published. I never tested it when published till this morning. I assumed, wrongly, that all would be ok.

Now when published it will not update the list but will in preview mode.

There is no error in the error node.

Do you have to change the postback on every control or just one which is running a qrule?

    Regards

    Re: Submit to Sharepoint List

    Hi-

    Thanks for attaching the XSN.

    You'll need to:

    • add a button to the canvas
    • put the qRules command on the rules for that button.
    • make sure that the button's post back settings are set to Always.

Additionally, you may want to have the button only execute the qRules command, in order to debug any potential issues. This is why our documentation recommends displaying the QdabraRules Error node on the canvas.

Once you're satisfied with how the button and the command are working, you can add the form library submit, an action to close the form, etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Submit to Sharepoint List

     Hi,

BTW - Thanks for the help. Great support compared to others software providers. Not waiting years for an answer.

I previously thought that this might be an issue and i added a button and it did not work.

However today, based on your suggestion, I removed everything from the button, bar the qrule, and removed the actions from the form submit dialog and it worked. I then added the submit to library and now it all works.

Does it always have to be a button and does the qrule have to be added first always?

It cannot be added as an action on the form submit options?

What node do I need to add to get the message that the form has submitted successfully for the user? and can I then get the form to close.

At present, before I can close the form manually, its asking me do I want to save a copy when it has already submitted a copy.

Can you tell me from my mapping file why my non repeating fields do not populate the list?

    Regards

The rule that executes the qRules command does not need to be first (in the order or rules). It doesn't need to be a button; a qRules command can execute on a dropdown, for example. There should be examples of this in the product documentation. However, the list submit cannot occurr on the Ribbon's submit button.

    barrymurphy:

What node do I need to add to get the message that the form has submitted successfully for the user? and can I then get the form to close.

qRules has a Success node which gets set to TRUE when a command succesfully completes.

    barrymurphy:

At present, before I can close the form manually, its asking me do I want to save a copy when it has already submitted a copy.

Take a look at File > Form Options and see if you can turn off the option to Save.

Your non-repeating groups are mapped with absolute xpaths such as my:myFields/my:Employee. All of the xpaths should be relative to the repeating group: my:myFields/my:group1. Hilary's blog posts should have an example of this.
