Help with Cascading list with SQL Data Source

Help would be appreciated with below form structure: Fields: Production Line - 1,2 & 3 Item Description I would like the second dropdown list (item description) to narrow selection based on selecting line 1,2,3. Database structure is: itemdescription = Item Description itemgroupcode = Defines line 1,2,3 How would I be able to create a cascading list with above criteria. The traditional filter suggestion through the forum doesn't help in this case? Or does it?

    Hi Endless112. Thanks for posting!

What is "the traditional filter suggestion"?

You need to execute a query using data from your form. Out-of-box SQL data connections do not accept field parameters as part of the SQL query text. You could use a Web service that does it and pass the value to it. Qdabra's DBXL Web service has a Query DB method which is easy to configure to do this. Another approach is to write some code in your form. qRules also has a command that lets non coders do the same thing using just a rule. Both DBXL and qRules are free trials.

If you don't have much data (<1000 rows), why re-query at all? Just query it all into your form and do the filtering using out-of-box filters.

    Good luck!
