Infopath web form not displaying data from Sharepoint 2010 list.

I have a web form created using Infopath 2010 which when filled out saves the information to a SharePoint list. When a user goes to the list they can click a link in the Title field that reopens the web form with the data repopulated or at least that’s what it is supposed to do.  The problem I’m running into is that the web form is only displaying some of the data that was originally entered. It refuses to pull all of the data.Does anyone know why only certain fields would populate back into the form? Are there limitation on what kind of fields will repopulate?

    Hi-

This is a bit confusing. Are you saying the data shows up correctly in the SharePoint list column, but then does not show up correctly in the form?

Did you customize the form? Perhaps something done in the customization of the form has damaged the view (which means there data is there, but the view is not showing the data).

Yes, the data shows up correctly in the SP list but it's not in the form. I don't believe that I've done anything to customize the form. I built it from scratch using out of the box Infopath tools so it's fairly basic. Could you be more specific regarding what you mean by "customize"?

Typically when working with a SharePoint list, one builds the list, then clicks Customize form in the SharePoint ribbon.

SharePoint then generates the "version 1" of your form, and opens it in design mode in InfoPath, and you can make changes to the view.

If you built this form from scratch, maybe we should check whether you are indeed working with a SharePoint list form. Could you attach the XSN via the Options tab? Thanks.

I've attached the XSN. Its a large form. The only data that is loading is from the top half of the view titled Page 1.

Thanks. It is indeed a SharePoint list form, and it has undergone numerous customizations. The first thing that strikes me is that this form has five views.

Since the data is showing up correctly in the SharePoint list, then the problem is the form. The form is probably not displaying the data as it is expected. Maybe some fields are in a different view. Maybe the user is not looking at the correct view.

I would suggest creating a debug view where you display all the available fields, and use this view to verify that the data is there. Once you can confirm this, then you can think about how the form template needs to be modified/customized to correctly show the data.

I did some checking and the problem seems to be that the check boxes at the bottom of the view titled "Page 1" are not pulling the information back out of the list. For some reason the system isn't remembering which boxes are checked. When I open the form back up, if I recheck a box that I know has information tied to it, then go to the next page, the information is there.

Is there a trick to getting checkboxes to retrieve either a yes or no value from the list?

Well, this data loss issue doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The SharePoint list forms' data exists in the list. Seems like you are saying that is not displaying correctly in the view. To me, that would seem like a bug.

We don't see that kind of bug when using standard InfoPath forms (i.e. not list forms, but regular forms). You can map a regular InfoPath form to a SharePoint list and refresh from it but that requires our qRules plugin or a bunch of coding.

Bottom line: your senario should be working and the fact that it is not suggests it may be a bug. We need to look at your form and list to understand this better. The benefit of moving to regular InfoPath forms is that you fix this issue and you get a boat load of other features. List forms are limited.

Hi, I'm having this same sort of problem, and it involves checkboxes that are filtered, my unfiltered checkboxes work just fine. The New form displays as it should and allows me to add the values in the checked boxes to the SharePoint List. When I open the list view I can see the Values, however if I attempt to view one record or edit the record the checkbox values are not displayed.

I think what the problem may be is that is looking for an "ID" value instead of the "Title" value. So I've tried to create a rule on load but seem to be running into problems. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you,

     Dottie

    Update

I did figure out the problem I was having.

Since it is filtered, a defult value was checked. I removed the check by the value, and created a Query rule on form load that would load the data.

     Hi Dottie,

Glad you figured it out, sad to say I'm having the same problem, and unsure how to solve it - perhaps you could show exactly what you did, or upload a template? Would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance, and kind regards!
