    Node-test Expected Error

    What does the Node-tested expected error message mean in a Formula box? I can not find any documenation for this error message in IP, the SDK or MSDN.

    Re: Node-test Expected Error

    This is an XPATH expression error message saying that some sort of comparison to a node is expected in the formula you're building. This error typically comes up when the syntax of the expression you're building isn't correct. This MSDN article may be helpful in learning how to debug your formulas in InfoPath:
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms256135.aspx

    There are other resources available too if you search the Internet for "xpath" or "xpath reference".

    This is also a good reference:http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/default.asp

    If you still can't figure it out, please paste the complete error message as well as the XPath that you are trying to debug.

    Re: Node-test Expected Error

    I can't figure out what is wrong. I get the following error:
    Node-test expected.
    my:StandardLaborEst/-->my:CurTotalLaborRev-<--(sum(my:StandardLaborEst/my:StandardCostCodes/my:CurCost)+(sum(my:StandardLaborEst/my:StandardCostCodes/my:CurCost)*../my:WBSFringe))

    When I check this formula:
    my:StandardLaborEst/my:CurTotalLaborRev-(sum(my:StandardLaborEst/my:StandardCostCodes/my:CurCost)+(sum(my:StandardLaborEst/my:StandardCostCodes/my:CurCost)*../my:WBSFringe))

    found the problem, needed a "Space" between on each side of the "minus" sign in my formula.

    Glad you could figure it out! Yes, you need the spaces because the dash is a valid symbol in the node name, so it thought that the name of you're node included the minus sign!

    This solved the problem for me too! I needed spaces in various part of my expression -  I would not have thought of it had you not posted your solution.  Thank you!
