I am trying to edit an InfoPath 2007 template that resides on a Sharepoint 2007 document library using IE 8. This template is used to add and edit list items. Following is a brief descripton of what I'm trying to do:
1) Go to Central Admin| Application Management | Manage Form Templates
2) Click on the dropdown for the template and select "View Properties"
a) Trust Level = Full Trust
b) Digitally signed = No
c) Contains business logic = Yes
3) Go to the document library in my SECURED Sharepoint Site and locate my template
4) Click on dropdown and select "Edit in Microsoft Office InfoPath"
5) Asks me to login to the Sharepoint site
6) Get a warning that asks me if I'm sure I want to open the form; I say yes
7) I get the following error message
Form template: <name of template>.xsn
The form template is trying to access files and settings on your computer. InfoPath cannot grant access to these files and settings because the form template is not fully trusted. For a form to run with full trust, it must be installed or digitally signed with a certificate.
8) I have Googled this error and have received some comments from various sites (including yours) and I have the following comments:
a) I don't understand why the error message says that it's not fully trusted when it is! (see above)
b) Many of the help sites say change this, change that on the template, BUT I can't make ANY changes to the template because I'm not able to open it!
c) I was not the original designer of the template nor of the site and he has since left the company
d) InfoPath 2007 AND 2010 are installed on my local machine. This is because I want to use Office 2010 for future development. I can uninstall and then reinstall Office 2010 if I have to.
9) I have successfully downloaded and opened a copy of the template to see the various fields and settings. I tried publishing this version but I get the following error message:
the following web server does not appear to be running windows sharepoint services <web server url>
10) I am so frustrated with this seemingly simple task. How will I be able to make changes to this template?
