    Advice about a Resume field

Hello I was hoping someone out there could help me out with a dilemma I'm having. I’ve built an InfoPath 2007 browser-enabled form for my company’s HR department to be able to view data that is being submitted to our database from a .Net form that a 3rd party company created for us. I have no problem querying the data regarding Personal Information, Education, Skills and Work History as I have each piece of data populate to its text box on each view using a search page to filter candidates.

The issue I’m having is what to do about the Resume page. I’ve tried both Rich Text Box and Text Box controls to display the data but the problem I keep running into for both is that the data runs all together instead of having line breaks where carriage returns should be. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The data type for the Resume field in SQL is "nvarchar(MAX)"

Hi g21cincy and thanks for all of the posts!

So, I'm guessing the 3rd party .net form doesn't submit XML. You should verify that it submits rich text for the resume. It could be submitting non xhtml compliant rich text which means you may need to add a plugin for viewing it. The out-of-box InfoPath rich text control does require a certain format. If you're lucky, it's the right format but it's missing a few things, like an attribute, that make InfoPath think it's not rich text.

Can you paste an example of the text in a reply so we can see?

    Thanks!

    Patrick,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Here is an example of one the submissions with some editing for privacy of the person who submitted it copied straight out of the Resume field in SQL. Thanks for your help.

Re: Advice about a Resume field

The solution that worked best for this was making the Resume variable a 'text' Data Type. The text isn't completely formatted correctly when displayed but it's broked up enough to be read. Below is an example of how the text isn't formatted the same way it was pasted and submitted.
