RefreshSharePointListItems - does it require full trust?

I've just worked through setting up a form to submit to a sharepoint list for a simple helpdesk site. The submit is working great.

I would now like to refresh the data from the remote list into the form.

Everything works perfectly in preview mode. When I pubhsed the form, I was receiving this error:
Failed to refresh list items: Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' failed.

A bit of searchign the web turned up that I may need to publish the form with full trust. I did this, and sure enough, it worked.

I want to know - is this a known requirement for this command? The manual doesn't say so, nor does Hilary Stoupa's excellent walkthrough at http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/hilary/archive/2012/07/05/qrules-refreshsharepointlistitems-walkthrough-for-v4-2.aspx

We are ultimately hoping to relocate our Sharepoint installation to Office 365, and there's issues there with full trust forms so I'm trying to avoid anything that requires this. If this command does indeed require full trust, then I'm going to have to find an alternative.

    Any advice is most appreciated!

    Hi Tom,

My experience is that Full Trust is not required. I would suggest:

    (1) Find the useWebServices node and drag it onto the canvas

    (2) Find the ExtendedErrorMessages node and drag it onto the canvas

    (3) before calling the qRules command (that is currently failing) check both checkboxes.

Hopefully either (1) solves the issue or (2) gives us additional information on the error.

Let us know what you find. Thanks.

Re: RefreshSharePointListItems - does it require full trust?

    Thankyou.

Ticking both of these boxes, and manually refreshing (previously had it on 'finishedloading' rule), I get the error below:
Failed to refresh list items: Unable to cast object of type 'Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentLifetime.DataAdapterListDataProviderHost' to type 'Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.FileQueryConnection'.

This happens with the certificate at domain trust. Initially at full trust it worked fine, but it's now no longer working, either.

The list is in another site, same domain and same site collection - that's not a contributing factor?

I would attach my template but it's 433KB (it contains some graphics). Is there any way I can get it to you?

Maybe. Here's what I see on your form:

I just tried a similar scenario on our ShP 2010 server and it worked fine.

I'm going to share your scenario with others on the team to see what they think.

Hi - looks like you are using a SharePoint List data connection for your refresh - Is that correct? You won't want useWebService set to true in that case, sorry for the confusion.

At what point are your querying the SharePoint List data connection? I'm not seeing that in your rules - it doesn't query on load, and I don't see an action to query it. Am I just overlooking it?

Generally, we haven't found that forms using this command in the browser have to be full trust. If submit is working w/out the form at full trust, it seems that refresh shouldn't require it. You may want to try refresh with an owssvr.dll data connection as well, in case that provides a work around in your environment.

    Hilary

I've added the list refresh in (can't believe I hadn't done it!) and I can now see data again at full trust. Domain trust gives me this error, the same as the initial error I had.
Failed to refresh list items: Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' failed. Extended Details: Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.RulesLibraryException: Failed to refresh list items: Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' failed. at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.RefreshSharePointListItems_Browser(String id, XPathNavigator mappingNode, String mode) at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.RefreshSharePointListItems() at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.RunCommand(String commandName) at Qdabra.Tools.RulesLibrary.Commands.ExecuteCommand()

I did try with an owssvr.dll connection earlier in the process, however the form wouldn't even load in the browser. I've just tried to load it back in, but I'm working remotely and infopath won't accept the URL as it's not seeing it as valid XML. I'm certainly not getting XML responses from a browser query for it. I'm sure that I have the URL correct.

At least I'm back to being able to make the query for data as full trust again, which will work for the time being - though I'd still like to resolve it properly if I can!

Can you drop me an email w/ the URL you are trying for owssvr.dll? I'd like to double check the syntax, just in case there is an issue....
