We have created a form that prints a footer with text and I have used a background image aligned bottom left to fake a footer image. (I exported the files and customized the CSS in the print.xsl to align bottom, because it is not an option in InfoPath Designer) So far, so good.
However, I really want to be able to overlay the footer text on top of the background image. It's clear to me that the footer takes up the full width of the page and is 100% opaque with a white background, so it obscures the background image where the footer starts. However, I can't find anywhere that specifies this style or even where the footer is inserted into the print.xsl.
The only reference to "footer" in the entire package is the footer reference in the manifest. I've experimented a lot with it and I can make very little HTML work with it. I can't put a table in it or an image tag that works, even after I've inserted the images into the form using Designer.
I believe if I understood how the footer is inserted and what governs its appearance, I could either put my image in the footer itself, or push the footer text over the top of the background image.
Thanks!

One more thing - I've replaced #FFFFFF globally with transparent and it had no effect on the footer.
