    Infopath cannot save the form <-- Narrowed down to XP / Win 7 issue

    Wasted the day working on data connections but now think the error below is a Win7 / XP issue.  The form submits great, but when a user with Windows 7 tries saving an existing form using the Save icon in the toolbar, it spits out there error below.

    has anyone come across this?  Been scouring the web but this seems to be unique.

     My environment is below the error message.

     ===================
    Error:

    Infopath cannot save the form.
    The specified location is not valid, not available, or you do not have the correct permissions.

     Check the spelling of the file nameand verify the location is correct, or contact the server administrator.
    ==================

     =================
    Environment:

    SharePoint 2010 Enterprise, Infopath 2010 saving the form as Infopath 2007 Filler Form
    There are data connections to other lists and web services (GetCommonManager, GetUserProfile)

    SP Designer workflow with an impersonation step

    How is your save data connection set up?  Where are you saving the form to?

    Make sure you don't use a access denied location to save your files. especially in windows 7

    I have several data connections, one is using a sharepoint list as an XML connection, one looks up a sharepoint list directly...     For some reason, it worked after a reboot, no explanation.  Thank you for the responses.    And Windows 7 definitely has some quirks when it comes to InfoPath and data connections.

    Glad to hear you solved your problem.  Windows can be quirky that way, I've had problems with InfoPath in the past that were also solved by a reboot, sorry I didn't think to recommend that!

    I lied, that did not solve the problem.   The problem has something to do with Office 2010 and Office 2007.

    Other users and I can use the submit button and save the form the first time, but going back in and make a change and saving only works in InfoPath 2010.   2007 spits that error.

    is there a patch out there we missed?

    Re: Infopath cannot save the form <-- Narrowed down to XP / Win 7 issue

    I am having the same issue as well. Windows Xp users can create the Infopath form and save it with no issues. Windows 7 users get "Some rules are not applied, Access denied" error when they try to create a new form. But if I create the form a XP m/c for them, they can update the form from Windows 7.

    The form is not browser enabled and opens in Infopath client. Because of some reasons internally, we cannot convert it to browser enabled. So I need to get this form working on windows 7. Any help or information will be greatly appreciated!

    I have opened a tickert with microsoft and they are still looking at it.

    Hi Suvarna, I'm sorry you're having this same problem and that I was unable to resolve it for you. If you like you can open a support ticket with Qdabra as well: http://www.qdabra.com/en/corp/contactus.aspx

    Not sure if this will help you, but what we did to band-aid this issue is make the form browser enabled (2007) but set the document library to open in the Client.   We think this is what fixed our issue.
