<p>I get "unspecified" error at runtime when I try to set the default value of an unbound text box (or make a rule  "Set Fields Value", click FX, and insert the field) off the GCM datafield; the error is at runtime, unspecified ....this is a browser form.  All GCM fields (Name, Accountname, email, etc)

BUt  when I try to publish I get some detail.  Here it is

Here's the thing, if I drag a bound field from the GCM "fields" dialog creating an uneditable control it IS properly populated. (the problem with this is that some AD profiles are incomplete, and the manager is blank.....I want to allow user to Person Picker an alternative manager in that event)

Why can't I "Set Fields Value", click FX, and insert the field off the GCM datafield????

You seem to have somehow gotten the InfoPath form into a bad state regarding its namespaces.

I suggest doing the following:

1) Remove the GetCommonManager data connection

2) Save the form

3) Re-open the form

4) Add a new GetCommonManager data connection

I had tried that with just the GCM to no avail, but your post promped me to dump ALL (6!) and save as, close, re-open, re-add (including the nuisance GetUserCollectionFromGroup that requires manual editting :-/  ) .....and Voila'!
