    SubmitToSharepointList Converting Ampersands to &

I just upgraded a template that was using qRules v3.2 (or it might have been 3.1) to 4.2 and am having problems with a text field that contains ampersands. In SharePoint, the field is setup as a Single line of text. In InfoPath, the field is setup as Text (string). If the field has an & in the data, when it get's submitted to SharePoint, it gets converted to & Back in 3.2, this didn't happen, and nothing else has change field-wise since I upgraded to 4.2. To make matters worse, I run RefreshSharepointListItems when the form is loaded. This causes the & to get converted to &, and gets worse each time the form is loaded. I've tried checking/un-checking the Is Rich Text option in the mapping tool and it's made no difference. Have you seen this problem and any idea how to fix it?

Thanks for your post, it sounds like it could be a bug in qRules.  Is this a browser or full-client form?  And can you post details on the command syntax you use?  It would also help to have the mapping file you use.

If this is a browser form, there are some new attributes on QdabraRules data source that may provide a workaround.   You may try setting /QdabraRules/Form/@useBrowserApi = "false" and /QdabraRules/Form/@useWebServices = "true" which will force it to use web services instead of the SharePoint object model.

We also just recently released qRules v4.3.  You may try downloading the v4.3 trial and seeing if this still occurs.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been trying everything as a work around. It is a browser form. I unchecked the Rich Text option and set @useWebServices to true() and it worked like a charm.

I had read in the 4.2 changes that qRules switched to using the object model instead of the web services and figured that was the problem, but didn't know how to switch it back. Thanks again. Happy Holidays.

How is this done.  I went to the QRules secondary data source and I located the options you mentioned, but when I click on properties, they are both defaulted to "False" and I'm not able to change either.

On the finishedLoading node in the QdabraRules data source, add a rule. The condition of the rule should be: finishedLoading = true. The action should be: Set useWebServices to false (with false typed into the value field in the dialog).

    Hi-

You can set the values of these fields via rules in your form.

    Hope this helps.
