Hi,

I am unable to submitt the form due to validation error on some hidden fields.

But the infopath form displays with message that validation is required on submit even if the control is hidden.

Control is within a section which is also hidden.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is how validation works - even if the user can't see the field, if it is invalid, InfoPath won't allow the form to be submitted. Your validation will need to take into account the conditions that would hide or show the field - if you are simply setting the fields to "cannot be blank" you will need to change to custom validation rules...

i am sorry i did not get you can you please elaborate your solution atleast give me an example so that i can understand

i am writing the custom validation rule only .

In the header of this reply is a linked sample form. Save the form locally (right click and Save As...). From the location you saved to, right click the file and select Design to open in design mode. You'll be able to look at the rules I used there.

 i am having one more doubt, can we do the same thing in the repeating table or not?

 because my scenario is like that only. moreover i am not interested to use two textboxes only one textbox.

I am using two text boxes bound to the same field to simply demonstrate the principle - which is that if you have some condition wherein you will be hiding a field, you could use the reverse condition in your validation rule, so that your validation rule will only fire when the field, whatever it may be bound to, is displayed on the form.

Can you please just open my attached form and save it you will get the required field error even if it is hidden.

As Hilary pointed out, you would change the validation condition to be something like:

field1 is blank AND

User's current role is not equal to Role 1

i had tried but it is not working.

can you please check with the attached form itself you will come to know the issue.
