    Hiding repeating data within a repeating table

    Hello everyone,

    I am having an issue trying to hide repeating data from an external data source, in a repeating table. I am relatively new to Infopath 2010 and Xpath, but I'm a very quick study.

    I'm currently trying to use a condtional formatting formula using preceding-sibling. but would i have to do something like this : count(../my:field1[text() = ../preceding-sibling::*/my:field1/text()]) + count(../my:field1[text() = ../following-sibling::*/my:field1/text()])

    and then sum the duplicates? Honestly im a little brain fried at the moment and could use some guidance.

    Let me clarify, can i achieve my goal of hiding repeating data with a conditional formula or would i need create a hidden field to assess if there are duplications and use a validation process?

    You've yet to explicitly say under what condition you want to hide the rows in your section, but it sounds like you want to hide duplicate rows.  Is this correct?

     If so, you can do this without a hidden field.  The condition would be something like:

    my:field1 is equal to preceding-sibling::my:groupName/my:field1

    Jimmy sorry for not answering back, you were correct sir. Thank you for your expedience and your knowledge. I have since advanced fairly well in my expressions and comprehension. I have some more complex issues at this present time and i'll make a post in the appropiate forum, I hope.
