Has the Qdabra team tested functionality of products since the Office 365 Upgrade this week?

We have Qrules and the Excel to XML tool and using SharePoint online with O365.  We are currently experiencing many problems with SharePoint online since the servers have been upgraded to Office 2013 Web Services.  Can you tell be if any testing has been done on your end? We have already found quite a few things that have been removed from SharePoint as a result of the upgrade.  I have many issues right now and I will need to start looking into this next week and was hoping that you may have a heads up of any issues that you may have already uncovered.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, Qdabra (and some customers) have used the Excel to XML tool with Office 365.

The main issue I've seen with the Excel to XML tool is that we cannot map the forms directly into the SharePoint form libraries. The connection between the tool and Office 365 hasn't been possible.

You can always create the XML files locally, and then upload them to the form library.

If you run into issues, please let us know what those are and we can investigate. Thank you.

I have been using both tools for some time.  The question I am asking concerns the recent upgrade that Microsoft has done to Office 365.  If you have not tested your tools this week, you may encounter problems.  Microsoft has upgraded SharePoint and there are many issues and changes.  If you are unaware of these changes, I would recommend that you test your tools with the current Office 365 environment.

New Office Web Apps features in SharePoint

With the latest SharePoint Online update, you’ll get new Office Web Apps features: more editing and formatting controls, co-authoring support across the web apps and expanded device support, including editing from tablets.

Using web-based versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote you can view, edit, and work together on Office documents from nearly anywhere. Here is a highlight of the new features across each Office Web App:

    ·         Word Web App Update: See graphics, images, and layout with excellent fidelity, including new support for viewing and adding comments. Format and design documents right from a browser with commonly used features from Word on the desktop, including new page layout tools, picture tools and word count. New co-authoring and comment support in Word Web App makes it easier to work together on the web.

    ·         Excel Web App updates: Get essential spreadsheet features, such as merge cells, context menus, auto-fit columns, formula assistance, fill handle and AutoSum. Manipulate and visualize data for deeper insights with support for high fidelity charts including 3D, improved Query Table and Data Validation support, Slicer functionality and Pivot Chart interactivity.

    ·         PowerPoint Web App updates: Presentations look like they do on the desktop, with high-resolution slides, full transitions, and viewable comments. Audio and video playback is now supported, even from a tablet or phone. Drag and drop support makes for easier layouts. While the ability to insert images, apply transitions and animations, or add a pre-designed theme make polished presentations from a browser possible. And new co-authoring and comment support in PowerPoint Web App improves collaboration in the cloud.

    ·         OneNote Web App updates: Users can find what they need more easily with the ability to search on a page or within a section. And new support for ink viewing makes more information accessible from the web. Just click-to-type anywhere on the page to add a note, picture or a tag. And notes can now be shared as a URL, viewable on a phone, PC or tablet through a browser.

Note: Office 365 will be ending support for Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) on October 1st, 2012. The upcoming Office Web Apps update does not support IE7. Please review the Office 365 system requirements page here.

    Hi Jerry,

We are very interested in fixing any issues you have and would like to get as much detail as you have regarding the errors.

We did test qRules with the preview of the new Office 365. Our concern was the amount of sandbox resources, since Microsoft has talked about the sandbox being "deprecated" in the future. Deprecated means it is still there but may not be supported in a future release. The qRules plugin does use the sandbox for browser forms on Office 365. When we tested in September, there was an artificial resource limit around 75k file size. In other words, forms that were >75k would not run code. We guessed that this was a limitation of the preview. We were able to confirm that SharePoint 2013 sandbox works fine.

We did not test XLS to XML with Office 365 because of the workaround that Ernesto mentions.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

I am currently working all the non-Qdabra issues.  The post was my way of getting a heads up of anything that you may have uncovered with your products since the ugrade.  Once I can get some of the SSev A tickets closed with MS I am going to start working on the apps that are using your tools.  I will keep you posted.

I am also experiencing issues since our site collection was updated to SP2013 on O365. It seems Infopath Form Services is broken, sandboxing is broken and performing the Sum() function in a repeating table using a 2ds browser form is broken. Are you experiencing anything like this? If I try and publish a form with qRules it tells me this form has features that are not compatible with the browser. Which worked perfectly fine before we were updated.

Yes I am also seeing the errors.  Repeating tables with fields that have filters and lookups are giving me theses errors.

    Hi Ldkud50,

I have created Qdabra support ticket 138247 to track the issue of publishing qRules to the updated O365. We will investigate this.

    Hi Jerry,

I will create a support ticket for XLS to XML if you can provide a little more detail regarding what errors you are seeing.

Re: Has the Qdabra team tested functionality of products since the Office 365 Upgrade this week?

Here are a couple issues that I have uncovered thus far with Submit to SharePoint.  These operations worked before upgrade:

    1. Repeating table in Browser form has a drop down field that looks up data from SharePoint list and applies filter to display correct data.  When I try to publish the form,i get the warnings in the design checker: "The filter expression is on external data and could not be validated.  It may not be supported in Web Browser applciations. - I also get a pop up error indicating that the form was published but can only be open in the Client.
    2. I only have one people picker control on my form and it does not have any function or code tied to it.  I get design checker warning when sumbitting - Code Event on Person\Group picker controls are not supported in sandboxed solutions warning. To enable code events on Person\Group picker controls use the administrator approved form template option in the publishing wizard.

Re: Has the Qdabra team tested functionality of products since the Office 365 Upgrade this week?

It appears everything is related to secondary data connections and the sandbox with browser forms. Any time you set a secondary data connection to not retrieve data on load and set a rule up to query that connection it doesn't work. Forms with qRules hang on connecting to InfoPath Form Services and eventually publishes with features not compatible and form can be used in filler.

If you "retrieve on form Load" for all the data connections, will that allow publishing and open in browser?

Re: Has the Qdabra team tested functionality of products since the Office 365 Upgrade this week?

I changed one of my smaller apps to retrieve all of the data connections on load and it still hangs on Forms Services and does not allow open in Browser.

Re: Has the Qdabra team tested functionality of products since the Office 365 Upgrade this week?

My query issues are with forms without code or qRules so go figure. Anything with qRules will hang and fail to publish to the sandbox as a browser enabled form.

But you also couldn't publish a form with a little bit of custom code as a browser form, right? So, isn't is Sandbox in general that is causing you issues?

Yes, anything with code or qRules won't publish as a browser form. As well as the other issues with querying 2ds and sum function.
