Hello,

I have created a dropdown field that uses a SharePoint list as the source. When I created the data connection to the list, I selected to sort by ID. I then converted the data connection to a udcx file and stored it in a connection library.

Now it turns out that sorting by ID was not a good idea. The users want to sort by title instead.

How can I change the sort order?

I have run some tests on another form and see that I can create a new data connection, define a different sort order, then turn that into a udcx file. I can overwrite the existing udcx, but it seems that the udcx contents is exactly the same, except for the time stamp. So, the sort order must be stored somewhere else. Where? How can I change it without creating a new data source?

My first hunch was the same as yours; basically, to see where in the UDC file the sort order is defined. But the sort order might indeed be stored somewhere else and not in the UDC file. I'm honestly not sure. It would take spelunking through the source files to find out where, or you can just create a new data connection and convert that to UDC. Is it not possible to recreate the data source?

Hi..I too have same req. In my case I cant modify dataconnection(dc) in form design. I hav to manipulate only udcx file. And my dc is created by selecting id column as sort column n then convered as dc. However I didnt see this config of sort by id in my udcx file. So how to achieve mu req of giving another column for sorting?
