    Forms library change column names

I have a Sharepoint forms library with columns promoted from a form..... The customer would like to change the column names but obviously this can't be done.... Are there any suggestions on what I may do so they can have different column names but same data without having to do something to the form? How would I do it?

    I believe you could:

    1. Edit the form and go to the form's promoted properties

    2. Promote the fields under new column names

    3. Save and publish the form

    4. Edit the Sharepoint view to hide the old columns and show the new columns.

Would that be enough to satisfy the customer request?

Re: Forms library change column names

Okay i have run into all types of issues with qRules filters not firing due to this changing of the field names.......

I have a duplicate check rule: concat("FilterOwssvr /dsname=Duplicate Check /filter=Protocol_x0020_Numbers /value=", translate(., "‘abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz", "‘ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ")).  with a condition that Protocol Number is not empty and not = to a TempProtocolNumber.

when i changed the field name (Protocol Numbers) in the form options by editing column names as requested, it changed/created the SP ID for the field now called (Nº Protocolo) is _536c862d_025c_45e5_b160_db0f0102f5bc so I would think, all i need to do is change the the rule to

    concat("FilterOwssvr /dsname=Duplicate Check /filter=_536c862d_025c_45e5_b160_db0f0102f5bc /value=", translate(., "‘abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz", "‘ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ")).

it never finds the Protocol Number because the intial rule was to find it under Protocol_x0020_Numbers. It does find the relating other fields per the item.  This lets me know that the rule still works...... except for the Protocol Number.

I also have this rule on another view based on the Protocol_x0020_Numbers vs. the new _536c862d_025c_45e5_b160_db0f0102f5bc field........ so i would image that after the solution is found, it will work for this one also????

Seems that the new column (Nº Protocolo) is getting the value and the Protocol Numbers is NOT getting a value.   How do I set the value for the Protocol Numbers so that these rules will start firing again?

Just wanted to update this with the outcome of our conversation earlier - SharePoint gave you some crazy column names to work with, but the issue was not with your filter, you had that right. The problem was that with the list column names changing, other rules now had incorrect XPath / field references.
