    Hide text box borders

So what I want to happen here is when a user submits the form (gets sent out via email) the text box borders go away.  I have tried everything I can think of to remove the borders but they still persist.  When in the design view I can remove borders there, but once the form is published and I test submit it, the borders appear for the text boxes in the email. .

You can create a separate view that will be used specifically after submit that contains all the text boxes that don't have the border.  Just be sure to set the display view to show after the form is submitted.

I have created a seperate view, with just the body of the email. I have 4 or 5 text boxes with data from a checklist we use for adding/deleting users.

On the checklist there is a Send to Clients Email Button..     this button has a few rules that get run when clicked.

I switch to the "Email Client View".

then i submit using a Data Connection.

It ALL Works except that the TEXTBOXES containing Data from checklist still have a border, but in my view I have removed the border.

    anything else i can do.

Try right-click the text boxes in the designer and changing them into calculated values.

    Hi Patrick,

Thanks, firstly i was reusing Data Elements.

Now i created new data elements (text boxes) and i set their Default Value to a calculated field

    Default Value------------------------

    Value:   Userid   (Fx)

check update this value when the result of the formula is calculated.

when i switch to the view it looks the same (there are no text box borders around the text.)

when its emailed in OUTLOOK each of the fields have a very thin greyed out border around them.  so back to the drawing board.  any other ideas.  thanks very much.

Ugh. Sorry you are still in the midst of grey mist.

Well, that's not what I see. Maybe you should send us your form for a further look....

Patrick was actually suggesting that you change the textboxes to Calculated Value boxes, which is a completely separate kind of control. Could you give that a try?

I dont see Calculated Value boxes.  I am using Microsoft InfoPath Forms 2007  OOB (out of the box).  I might be upgrading to Infopath 2010 soon, not sure if this will give me the control you are talking about.

    Currently my controls are

Textbox, rich text box, drop down list, list box, date picker, check box, option button, button, section

Optional Section, Repeating Section, repeating table

    File Attachment

    hyperlink and expression box.

I dont see Calculated Value Box as a control.

I will try and send you my form Patrick and Jimmy.

     Hi ozamani,

In pre-2010 versions of InfoPath, Calculated Value Boxes are called Expression Boxes.

    Thanks Jimmy and Patrick,

that was it.  funny thing is, I saw the expression box and wasnt sure what it was.  I added it, and couldnt bind it to a data element properly.

this time i used the change to "Expression box" and it kept the Data mapping  Xpath: value.

It works GREAT !!!! thanks again.
