I have a XSN form filler form (not web form) with 4 views - initiator, Supervisor, Manager and External.

On the Manger View I have the Submit button set to 1) Switch View to External, 2) Submit to data base, 3) submit email connection to external and 4) close the form.

 All works except that when the external receives the form, the email is blank and the attachment opens the Manager view.

How would I get it to send an email with no attachment and to dispay just the external view in the form?

This is a fun bug. If you switch views in the same ruleset as you send the email, you get a blank email.

We use sections in a single view instead. So, one section is the "fill out" section, and the other is the "email" section. I'll use another field, usually in a secondary data source, a boolean called "IsEmailing" or something, and hide the email section if it is false, the fill out section if it is true.

Then, in my rules, I'll set IsEmailing to true, send the email and then set it back to false. Make sense?

 Its scary but yes it does make sense.

But how do you get the view just in the email body without the full form attached.  Is that possible?

In InfoPath 2007 and later, you should be able to specify whether to include the form or just the current view of the form when you create the email data connection - I don't think that was available in IP 2003 (but that was a long time ago...)

I wil have to do some reformatting with the sections as the bug about blank emails does affect my form.

And yes IP2003 was so very long ago!
